Looking for the most precious island of Thailand but not a busy, touristy beach destination? Keep on reading, because the secluded Koh Yao Noi island is a rough diamond of Thailand with lush jungle, white sandy beaches, friendly local community and breathtaking view over the Phang Nga Bay with rising limestone formations out of the blue sea.
In contrary to Koh Phi Phi islands is the sea around the island Kao Yao calm because it’s surrounded by the Thai coastal area. A huge stone rock is protecting the island from the North-Eastern wind which makes that the weather is pleasant all year long. The area is facing two seasons (instead of three in the Northern parts of Thailand) namely the wet season (April to October) and dry season (November to April).
The Andaman sea invites its visitors for exciting activities like kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving and touring on a boat. Guests can go island hopping to admire the beautiful cliffs in the area or jump on one of the traditional fishing boats. Of course there are enough things to do on the island itself such as a jungle trekking, rock climbing or crossing on a mountain bike. The creative spirits are also encouraged during Thai cooking classes and traditional Batink painting classes.
For guests who would like to explore a bit more of the area, Krabi and Phuket are close by. Moreover, Paradise at Kao Yao organizes unique excursions, think of village (sunset) tours, an elephant trekking, shopping day or a visit to the surrounding islands.
The island is easily accessible from either Phuket or Krabi, both accommodated by an airport. From Phuket airport it’s about 20 minutes to the Yacht Haven Pier followed by an one hour boat ride. Arriving at Krabi airport it will take you 40 minutes to get to the pier and consequently another 40 minutes to reach the Koh Yao Noi island. Unlike the Koh Phi Phi islands, the boat ride is comfortable on the calm sea as the bay is enclosed by land. However do make sure to leave in time before it gets dark.
The romantic beach resort Paradise @ Koh Yao is famous for weddings and honeymoons. Not surprisingly as the luxury retreat is facing a 400 meter, private sand beach and offers many wellness facilities such as the specialized Yoga centre and tropical jungle spa with Waterfall Plunge Pool and unique herbal steam cave. The modern studio’s are facing a new design of a beach feeling with an open ambiance and fresh mint colors. Furthermore there are many activities organized on site and a huge salted swimming pool ready to be used. See for more information: http://www.paradise-kohyao.com/
